Fine Finish Cabinet Painting

Cabinet painting is our favorite task to perform by far. Nothing helps a house stand out on the market better than newly painted cabinets when other houses all have golden oak cabinets from the 80s and 90s. This being said, we always sample swatches of paint before committing fully to that color. It’s a great first step for a full kitchen remodel, but most of the time it’s all the kitchen needs to freshen the look up and modernize your theme. Complimenting existing natural stone is simply choosing the right color, commonly a neutral tone. See also: backsplash.

Backsplash

A backsplash pairs the cabinets and countertops of any type. Builders will put a floor tile as a backsplash and as the style fails to age well, the countertops can typically stay saving a large sum on the remodel. Then with a complimentary pairing of cabinets and backsplash, your kitchen is 85% remodeled/modernized/updated. I recommend Floor and Decor’s Online Store or even the local Home Depot or Lowe’s for backsplash sampling. Tiles are sold individually and can be returned. Ordering online is a risk as 20% of tiles are damaged in the USPS/FedEx/UPS/DHL Shipping and Handling.

Tile Install or Repair Services

A tile project always calls for an expert. It starts with product selection, floor leveling, lippage control, and a proper install. If you’ve ever walked on a hollow tile, it’s from a poor install specifically not mixing the thinset correctly. This and a handful of other mistakes people make when installing this product is suitable cause for calling a pro. Tile is expensive, errors are costly. Tile demolition is something we love doing! Although it’s loud there are tricks to manage dust and keep your home clean during the process

Shower Installation

Shower installation begins with the shower base or “pan” that is custom poured concrete with a PVC liner or fiberglass liner. There is also prefabricated shower bases which all require proper cement backing. The walls are then constructed and framing fortified to support the weight of the tile, and additional layers being thinset. Over the cement board is a waterproof membrane. All these layers are themselves waterproof so the shower on the whole has multiple layers of protection from a shifting home. A proper shower will easily last 40 years. However many tile installers use greenboard (sheetrock) under the tile with no waterproofing. Buyers beware of this technique. Water has a way of creeping into grout lines over the years especially unsealed grout. Grout sealing also allows easier cleaning of that lovely pink stuff that tends to show up in the shower (bacteria).

Vinyl Plank Installation

For any flooring, leveling or screed is a must to ensure dips do not cause your flooring to bounce or flex when stepped on. Another consideration is a proper noise-insulating underlayment to account for that tippy-tappy sound when walked on. Vinyl click-lock systems are floating meaning they are not glued. Glue down vinyl however does not need a noise dampening underlayment and is typically a more cost efficient option. It’s up to you! Ask for a showing of our trending color option by Knoa’s Flooring.

Exterior Patio Work

A number of things you look for in a nice patio covering. Mostly high ceilings. Here’s a wonderful project that had a 14 ft high ceiling and a 2:12 pitch. Needless to say they were covered. Brainstorming is always welcome, this one we matched the existing deck. They were insistent on a tongue and groove ceiling.
